SophieSew
Revision History
SophieSew is being developed by carlos mandell and
is a free to use embroidery
software package written
for the windows platform.
25th November 2007 ( ver 1.13 Build 42 released )
Section 1 - Bug Fixes.
I have now integrated bug tracking and reporting into SophieSew.
Users now have the option of sending a bug report back to me on any exceptions thrown by SophieSew.
This was in response to a series of bugs reported in great detail by Peter Hampf .
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter for the help he has given and continues
to give in making SophieSew into a stable and usable application.
Section 2 - Stand Alone Demo Tutorials.
I have released a series of self executing ( .exe) demos that can be downloaded and saved.
They have been designed to take the user through the basics of how to digitize and embroidery design with SophieSew.
I have initially released three :-
How to create, import and use an Image ( picture ).
How to digitize a basic set of outlines around an image.
How to change basic outlines into running, zigzag and satin stitches.
I hope to release several more during the next few weeks.
I am also looking to integrate the tutorials into SophieSew
via some form of installation routine.
The demos could then be picked up and run from within the application.
28th July 2007 ( ver 1.13 released )
Section 1 - Bug Fixes.
Spent a lot of time fixing a lot of bugs relating to all aspects of SophieSew's performance.
SophieSew is now :-
Compatible with microsoft VISTA.
Runs in windows 98 ( 128 mb ram ).
Runs on windows xp ( service pack 2, 128 mb ram ).
I also got SophieSew working on a 500 mhz Laptop running windows xp ( the oldest computer I still own )
giving an unspectacular but reasonably acceptable performance.
Bug fixes include :-
Streamlining curved column and outline creation.
Fixing bugs relating to extra segment generation.
Fixing bugs relating to curved column splitting.
Fixed a bug that stopped SophieSew working with windows 98.
Fixed bugs relating to fill stitch region generation.
Fixed a bug that sometimes caused sophiesew to crash on resizing and rotating designs.
I have also taken time out to tidy up SophieSew's menu interface by taking out some of those options who's usefulness and purpose has been lost over the depths of time.
Section 2 - What's new in this release.
New Circle tool.
This is the first of a series of tools aimed at shape generation.
2st April 2007 ( ver 1.10 released )
Reworked entire region stitch generation section.
Stitch density can now be set from 11 to 70 stitches per cm.
You can now choose between four stitch types.
None - used for defining complex fills ( holes ).
Zigzag.
Satin.
Tatami.
Tatami stitches can now be linked together in two styles.
A tatami stitch back distance can now be set.
I have also included a further option to automatically stitch back to the nearest fill
pattern point.
Underlay stitch generation has been fully integrated into the region generation process.
You can now set margins right round the region.
Underlay can be set to zigzag, satin or tatami and rotated to any angle.
Jump stitching into and out of a region has now been fully integrated.
You can now set a maximum and minimum stitch point distance for each individual fill region.
Points below the minimum distance will be eliminated from the design.
Points above the maximum distance will be truncated, effectively eliminating oversized
stitches.
Satin and zigzag running stitch density can now be set from 11 to 70 stitches per cm.
You can now set a maximum and minimum stitch point distance for each individual satin or zigzag running stitch.
Points below the minimum distance will be eliminated from the design.
Points above the maximum distance will be truncated, effectively eliminating oversized stitches.
Memory Usage.
Fixed several large memory leaks that were causing performance problems with SophieSew 1.04.
SophieSew now generally performs and runs faster.
There are no more out of memory or resources error messages and crashes.
SophieSew is now eco-resource friendly.
